Infosys has announced that the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI) has closed the pre-show cause notice proceedings against the company for the financial year 2017-2018. The proceedings were related to an alleged tax evasion of Rs 3,898 crore. However, Infosys has stated that it has paid all its GST dues and has no pending dues.
The company had earlier received a demand from DGGI for alleged tax evasion exceeding Rs 32,000 crore. However, Infosys has clarified that it has settled all its GST payments and that the GST claimed by DGGI does not apply to its expenses. The Karnataka state authorities had also withdrawn the pre-show cause notice issued to Infosys on July 31.
