Hyundai Motor Group has announced an ambitious plan to sell 2 million electric vehicles (EVs) annually by 2030, despite a global slowdown in EV sales. The company revealed its new EV strategy during the CEO Investor Day meeting, which includes offering a full lineup of 21 EV models by 2030.
Hyundai’s new EREV (extended range electric vehicle) technology is a key part of this strategy. EREV combines the advantages of internal combustion engines and EVs, increasing driving range to over 900 km. This innovative technology allows for four-wheel drive, powered solely by electricity, with the engine used only for battery charging.
According to Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, the company aims to secure a leading position in the market as the adoption of electrified vehicles gains momentum. Hyundai’s commitment to sustainable mobility and innovation is evident in its rapid launch of a comprehensive EV lineup, catering to various market segments.
