A federal judge in California has temporarily dismissed a lawsuit against X, the social media company formerly known as Twitter, over allegations of disability discrimination. The lawsuit, filed by a former engineering manager, claimed that X’s decision to end remote work discriminated against disabled employees. However, the judge ruled that the plaintiff did not provide sufficient evidence to support this claim.
The judge’s decision comes after Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter and subsequent changes to the company’s policies, including the end of remote work. While some employees have pushed back against these changes, the judge’s ruling suggests that X’s policies may not necessarily constitute discrimination against disabled workers. However, the plaintiff has been given the opportunity to amend and resubmit the lawsuit with more detailed claims.
This lawsuit is one of several filed against X in the wake of Musk’s acquisition and layoffs.
