Coastal shipping will connect Gujarat to South India and the eastern side of the country, with identified commodities including waste paper, ceramic tiles, and consumer durables.
Concor, a state-owned logistics company, is set to restart coastal shipping services in India as part of its multi-modal logistics strategy. This move aims to provide customers with a cost-effective, fast, and eco-friendly mode of transportation. Concor had previously launched coastal shipping services in 2019 but stopped them during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In June, Concor signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shipping Corporation of India to explore business opportunities and offer seamless logistics services. The MoU will enable the development of Concor’s footprint in overseas locations and foray into coastal and inland waterways trade.
Concor’s coastal shipping services will connect Gujarat to South India and the eastern side of the country, with identified commodities including waste paper, ceramic tiles, and consumer durables. The company has also launched a logistics app for providing first-mile and last-mile services, which has seen significant growth. With this restart, Concor aims to achieve 50% growth in first-mile and last-mile services in FY25.
