Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft has successfully landed back on Earth after a critical test mission for NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. However, the spacecraft returned without NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore due to safety concerns. The Starliner had issues with helium leaks and thrusters, which raised concerns about its ability to safely return the astronauts to Earth.
Despite the setbacks, NASA remains committed to working with Boeing to develop Starliner into a reliable spacecraft. The space agency will review the data collected during this test flight and work with Boeing to fix the issues that arose. Williams and Wilmore will now return to Earth in February 2025 aboard SpaceX’s Dragon capsule.
