Amazon’s Great Indian Festival (AGIF) 2024 has kicked off with unprecedented success, recording its biggest-ever opening. The e-commerce giant saw over 11 crore customer visits in the first 48 hours, with a significant majority coming from smaller towns and cities.
Small and medium businesses (SMBs) were among the biggest beneficiaries, with over 8,000 sellers reaching ₹1 lakh in sales within the first two days. Women entrepreneurs, weavers, and artisans also saw significant sales, with 1,500 units sold per minute.
Digital payments played a key role in driving sales, with attractive bank offers and no-cost EMI options. UPI transactions increased by 16% compared to last year, and Amazon Pay saw a rise in usage.
The festival will continue throughout the month, with Amazon having hired over 100,000 seasonal workers and expanded its fulfilment centres to handle the festive surge.
