  • Amazon India plans to launch its quick commerce service, Tez, by early 2025.
  • Tez will compete with Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, and Flipkart Minutes.
  • Quick commerce in India is expected to grow to $7 billion by 2024.

Amazon India is set to enter the quick commerce market with its new service, Tez, by early 2025. According to reports, the company is fast-tracking the launch, originally planned for later in 2025, to capture the growing demand for fast deliveries. Tez will begin with groceries and daily essentials, leveraging a “ground-up” approach to building logistics, including dark stores.

The quick commerce space in India is already crowded, with Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, and Flipkart Minutes actively competing for market share. Zepto recently raised $350 million, and Blinkit continues to scale under Zomato’s umbrella. The market is projected to grow to $7 billion by 2024 and could reach $25–55 billion by 2030, driven by high app engagement and frequent orders.

Despite reporting a 14% increase in revenue to ₹25,406 crore in FY24, Amazon India is focusing on cost optimisation, including relocating its Bengaluru headquarters. Tez will be Amazon’s attempt to strengthen its presence in the rapidly expanding quick commerce segment, where speed and efficiency are key to success.
